三四郎島トンボロ

三四郎島は、伝兵衛島・中ノ島・沖ノ瀬島・高島からなる4つの島で、見る角度により3つに見えたり、4つに見えたりすることからこう呼ばれています。 干潮時には一番手前の伝兵衛島まで瀬が現れ足をぬらさずに歩いてわたることができます。この現象のことを「トンボロ（tombolo）」、もしくは日本語で「陸繋砂州（りくけいさす）」と言い、日本でも大変珍しい現象であります。 トンボロ現象は、潮高が50cm 以下の時に現れます。 こちらのページに記載の緑色で記載の時間が干潮時間、青色で記載の数字が潮高(cm)です。なるべく潮高が30cm以下になる日時を狙って訪れましょう。 なお、三四郎島に続くトンボロは、ゴロゴロした石の州です。濡れている石は滑りやすいので、歩きやすい靴を用意しましょう。

Sanshiro-jima Tombolo

Sanshiro-jima is a collective name for four islands which are Denbe island, Nakano island, Okinose island and Taka island in the Dogajima area. You can walk across to Denbe island which is nearest from the land at low tide. This phenomena is called “tombolo”, and this is very rear phenomena in the world as well as Japan.

Tombolo is appeared when the height of the ocean’s surface is below 50 cm. This page shows low tide time and the height (cm) that are indicated with green color and blue color. It is better to visit there when the height is below 30 cm. Sanshiro-jima Tombolo is composed of a lot of stones. Because they are slippery, you should wear walking shoes.
